Pros

The employees are nice. Upper management could be nice if the company wasn’t structured the way it was.

Cons

Very tough to find positives here ... as a sales executive, one looks for a position where they truly can be in charge of their own success or failure. If one is successful, they would expect to be praised, and if one fails, they would expect to be coddled by management. At CBS , there really is no difference in how you are treated, whether you are one month in, or ten years in, 150% of plan or 25 % of plan. Keep this is mind. All are coddled the same... and not coddling like your loving parents making sure you don’t hit your head running around in the kitchen, suffocated would probably be the best word. Over the past year and a half that I’ve worked here, more than 17 people have left the company and one or two have gotten fired. In my branch. That normally consists of about fifteen people.... stats don’t lie... This not withstanding - the racist , sexist, manic and manipulative behavior that is allowed to go on in this company is distressing. Women and people of color are not generally seen in the managers circle, to say the least. Overall, this company is a very depressing place to work. The 30 year old dogma and rhetoric touted by the President is old and tired. The industry is becoming úber competitive, and this will never be recognized by upper management. Nobody is listened to and loyal employees are fired for speaking up against wrongdoings. Employees are made to feel as if they are being tracked and followed throughout the course of the day. Management is completely paranoid and will not take responsibility for any of the turnover. Stay away from this company- there are plenty of other entry level sales jobs that won’t leave you calling your psychiatrist after six months.

Thank you current employee for writing your review. It’s clear that you are concerned about the culture and level of support at CBS, and we are both troubled and saddened to read your review. We have an open door policy and invite you or any former, current, or prospective employee to speak to Human Resources or anyone on the leadership team you feel comfortable with about their concerns. Specifically, we want to be clear that we do not tolerate racism, sexism, harassment, or retaliation of any type, and these behaviors should be reported to Human Resources immediately. We did some reflection and wanted to provide readers of this review additional perspective. Employees in sales that perform at CBS are rewarded in various ways; promotions to leadership roles, Million $$ Clubs, President Club Trips, participation in company-wide contests, salary increases, flexibility, uncapped commissions and bonus opportunity. A performing sales rep is “in charge of their own success or failure.” We are committed to the development of our people and we believe that if we hired you we are committed to developing your skills. If this is what is defined as “coddling,” then that is OK with us. Turnover is painful for any business, and we actively work to reward and retain our employees in the various ways referenced above. We do benchmark our turnover internally and against similar companies, and for the past 12 months, it has actually been at 34%. Of course, our goal is for this number to be even lower so we welcome suggestions on how we can make CBS an even better place to work. It’s true that our industry in general has traditionally been male-dominated; however, it is important to us to have diverse perspectives throughout all levels at CBS. To that end, we conduct annual Leadership Development Programs and offer mentoring opportunities to give employees the support and tools to grow within the organization. At CBS, we believe that every employee has the capacity to be a leader, whether they have a management title or not. Finally, we agree with you that our employees are super nice and appreciate you sharing your thoughts with us. We truly do welcome feedback from current and/or former employees.

Pros

I have been at CBS for 4 full months now. My favorite aspect of CBS is the team atmosphere and support from management. As a former athlete, it was important for me to find a company that had excitement, energy, support, a collaborative team atmosphere, but also the ability to work independently. CBS has provided me with everything I was looking for in a company and i'm fortunate to have found it. The company puts a lot of effort in keeping its employees motivated and is constantly providing ways to educate us and improve our skills/knowledge. It has been a great experience so far and it is nice to represent a brand as good as Xerox. Also, as I am writing this half of the company is on a plane to Aruba for presidents club trip and not many companies have those opportunities.

Cons

Not many cons for me so far. At first I was a little frustrated with a early start in the morning but with this job whatever you put in you will get out of it. the harder you are willing to work the more money you will make here and uncapped commissions on top of a great salary, benfefits, and company incentives is enough to easily keep you motivated on a daily basis.
