Pros

Never boring. Changes are constant, including products, pricing, personnel, management, but, of course, this can also be viewed as a negative.

Cons

Never boring. Changes are constant, including products, pricing, personnel, management, but, of course, this can also be viewed as a negative. Unequal distribution of existing accounts in terms of upside sales potential. As a result, sales person turnover is greater than 50% per year in the company, as a whole.

CoStar Group Response

We appreciate your feedback. It’s true that CoStar Group’s Sales department has undergone many changes, and most of them are a direct result of the success of our employees – whether it’s a recent acquisition or the structural build-out that is aimed to provide our salespeople with more opportunities to grow and develop skills for the next step in their career. We are constantly analyzing markets to determine the right number of salespeople to meet demands, and recent numbers indicate there is ample selling opportunity – and in the case of some of our newer target groups, we’ve only tapped into 10% of the industry. A salesperson’s book of business is based on both the accounts available from a salesperson previously in the role, as well as the individual’s selling experience and knowledge of the product. We encourage many of our newer employees to work on building relationships with the existing clients in their book of business, as well as collaborating with other salespeople – teamwork has proven particularly successful this year as we are able to offer multiple products that span marketing and information services, and have resulted in many successful deals that bring about great business for all salespeople involved in the transaction. Sales does have higher turnover than most other departments, but with many changes over the course of the last year-and-a-half we know many excel in the environment, but it’s also not the job for everyone. We are constantly examining the roles and developing them to ensure we are providing the best work environment possible, such as the recent build-out of career path opportunities and levels and annual performance reviews with merit base pay increases effective this calendar year.

Pros

I worked for Homes.com - Great first job out of college to learn a lot about sales and can make good money in the first 3 months - FIND PEOPLE THAT HAVE DONE THIS JOB AND HAVE LEFT AND FIGURE OUT WHY CUZ THEY'LL TELL YOU

Cons

I worked for Homes.com - You're doing 3 jobs in one and the pay does not reflect that - it is churn and burn. The average tenure here is 7 months - Management doesn't know what's going on 3/4 of the time. It is all up to the CEO and he's on his private jet more than 3/4 of the time
