Pros
Pay is very good for my age (19-20 years old) Paid breaks (8hr shifts get 30mins paid n 30mins unpaid) Extra holiday days for each year you work. (3 extra days compared to first year) Lots of overtime available if you need it Flexible shifts - fits well around uni Colleagues are brilliant to work with A lot of management experience which is good for future opportunities Uniform is t-shirts in summer which is more relaxed
Cons
Sometimes too much is expected of you which can make you very stressed Long shifts (6am-2pm or 2pm-10pm) sometimes 10 hour shifts or longer. Can’t take sick days because lack of staff employed to cover Can’t take full 1 hour break on 8hour shifts as too much to do/can’t leave 1 person on shop floor to solo. Not enough people on a shift sometimes (need 3 people minimum both morning and evening) Security is only partial when needed more often Customers can be a bit too much sometimes (comes with any customer service role though) Finding people to cover your shift or swap is difficult sometimes
