Pros
You get to work with some of the smartest people in the business and even if you might not be on par, you never get discriminated as long as you’re recognized for putting in the effort. The work (if you believe in it) is meaningful and you get to push boundaries, seeking greater heights. I believe the company on the whole never stopped to become increasingly global and continues to be very receptive of the idea of being multiracial. Everyone is focused on delivering, and I recognize that even though we can and should be money driven, there are some other qualitative aspects such as pride (in a good way), sense of responsibility and sense of ownership that motivates us to deliver. I also really appreciate the company’s philosophy in doing business, which I can’t exactly define in words. Example, the firm doesn’t engage in “hire and fire” strategies that most western firms would.
Cons
1. No work life balance, there’s almost always too much to do, especially for the Chinese themselves. 2. Remuneration can be a problem, but again this also specifically applies for the Chinese who aren’t benchmarked against the international market. 3. Unrealistic targets at times. But this is a common problem for all firms.
