Started in Operations right out of college, acheived a few small promotions, after 5 years rewarded with promotion to sales force (better pay, less hours) It is a job that you get what you put into it.
Cons
Lots of travel at almost every job. Expectation is work becomes #1 life priority. Excess documentation for sales employees.
