Certified Power

Is this your company?

Close to the worst company that I have ever worked at. Contractor in all but name. When the project was over, so was I. - Software Engineer Certified Power Employee Review

Pros

There is an average paycheck.

Cons

Don't plan on a raise. Where you start will be where you finish. Insurance is poor. The vacation policy is arbitrary, to put it kindly. The 401k is literally the worst that I have ever seen . Middle management is constantly back biting, protecting turf, and not working together as a team. They have been purchased yet again and loaded down with additional debt, I worked in Engineering at Certified Power for 14 months. The building is cold, drafty and noisy. The offices are junk. Overtime is mandatory and unpaid. A tiny group. There is little understanding of what an embedded software engineer does for a living. Do not look to management for technical direction. You will be on your own. Schedules will be dictated. Do not expect to be rewarded. I saw engineers who had performed absolute miracles receive minimal pay raises. If a project was late due to a management miscalculation, it was not uncommon for an engineer to take the blame. Personally, I received ordinary treatment, at least until the end. They promised better treatment. Didn't happen. I was a contractor in all but name. When the project was over, so was I. As of this writing, nine months after my exit, I have not yet been replaced. Nor has my position been advertised. Certified Power hires two types of engineers: fresh outs and refugees from hard times. Don't leave a regular gig to go there. And if you must go, keep looking. Don't spend your career years there. The place is dysfunctional. If they can take advantage of you, they will.

Very rarely get to see the actual boss which is not even living in state and it has multiple locations nation wide that are always in competition to see who can make the most per month

Pros

Good support from their vendors. Thank God! People are nice.... until....

Cons

They do not train you... like at all!!! Then expect expert results and now! If you don't, you are disposable. No ownership over their lack of training. They do not listen to employees when they have ideas or suggestions. It goes to the waste side. They rely on their veteran salespeople and don't allow the new guys to get into the gruff of it so they can learn.
