Pros
As stated above, CUNY TV is staffed by vibrant, talented, hardworking people. Public sector budgeting means extensive capital outlays, so if you're in a technical field expect to at some point fool around with some real state of the art equipment. Staff is highly international, World Cup is a blast.
Cons
The higher up the chain you go, the more you run into the hard facts of working in the public sector. Any essential policy changes involve board approvals and any outside vendors you might work with are lowest bidders. Promotions and expansions of responsibility occur but actual compensation remains static throughout most employees careers. There is no program for employee development, despite certifications being at the heart of technical employees' career prospects.
