Pros

I found CDR to have a very flexible work environment, and the president's door was always open even if it was a 6 AM phone call to talk through difficult situations. The hours are long and challenging, but there were also a lot of employee-driven activities to break up the heavy workload. One may make fun of "mandatory fun" but so few other employers in this space have activities to improve office morale, that working here stood out. As a working parent, I found it to be an especially welcoming place. The work still had to be completed, true of any other workspace, but in cases of family emergencies both minor or major, the support was always there. There is also the opportunity to learn when you pay attention. I learned the ins and outs of mail production, analytics, art and copy as an Account Executive. I was also given the chance to teach classes and share my own skills.

Cons

The hours are very, very long and the work is challenging. Client services requires a very special kind of temperament. From time to time I did not feel supported when client was being particularly nasty, but that happened to be a communications issue between me and my supervisor. There seems to be a high rate of turnover but that can also be a pro if the right person isn't in the position from the beginning.

Pros

Remote work Working with nonprofits is rewarding

Cons

For a company with so many remote employees, it is not very remote-forward. No reimbursement for office supplies, no internet or work from home stipend.
