Pros

Mission-driven organization: C40 is at the forefront of global climate action, helping cities deliver on the Paris Agreement through ambitious, science-based plans. Collaborative culture: Teams work across geographies with a genuine spirit of partnership, sharing best practices and learning from each other. Exposure and impact: Opportunity to engage with city governments, global experts, and international partners on cutting-edge climate solutions. Professional growth: Strong emphasis on learning, capacity building, and working in multidisciplinary contexts (energy, mobility, waste, buildings, resilience). Equity and inclusion: Clear focus on inclusive climate action, ensuring that vulnerable communities benefit from interventions.

Cons

As with many mission-driven nonprofits, resources can be stretched at times, and priorities may shift quickly to respond to global opportunities. This requires adaptability and strong time management.

Pros

Interactions with folks around the world and opportunities to truly expand one’s own social, cultural and world views.

Cons

Laughably low pay, limited opportunities for career progression, insubstantial work, questionable outcomes, terrible management, despicable treatment of workforce that shows with an incredibly high turnover rate. Management doesn’t care and continues to hire and break motivated young people eager to make a difference, and who will inevitably leave, utterly disillusioned.
