Pros

The mission at Book Trust is undeniably inspiring. The program works, and the impact is only growing.

Cons

No doubt will the new senior leadership at Book Trust attribute these bad reviews to a team resistant to change and hostile to newcomers. Unfortunately, this is not the case when nearly ten people have left after they transitioned in. Through their actions of micromanaging, berating employees for perceived slights, and passive aggressiveness, they have shown that they do not trust in the ability of their employees. They have continually shown to be resistant to feedback, preferring to surround themselves with those that agree with them. The open feedback culture previous to the new management was one of the things that made Book Trust great and it is sad to see that culture change into one that is much more closed door.

Pros

Great mission is obvious, but you find many jobs that have embedded time for self care and personal development.

Cons

Board is out of touch.

Pros

Getting books to kids, you can be friends with co-workers.

Cons

A CEO who lies to herself and others. I wasn't going to write in but I noticed a recent review from an administrative assistant. I spoke to the last 3 at the organization and all ended their time here badly!! None of them wrote it which leads me to believe that this is a fake review submitted by the current CEO. If that's true then it's really desperate. I see that the Senior Director of Finance is STILL on the website 2 months after they left. This is either a deliberate lie or incompetence. If someone doesn't work there, take them off. Trying to hide understaffing won't work. Book Trust has been without two Directors now for a whole quarter. Health benefits were cut with no warning to employees, everyone stressed out and overworked. Public tax information: this CEO pays herself $160,000.00 a year when the organization is failing, understaffed and overworked. It's a disgrace and the board should remove her.
