Pros

There are truly some very smart, talented individuals who work here and who are great at what they do. You have the opportunity to work on some cool projects with fun clients. Benefits are decent, can work from home sometimes, and the offices at both locations are extremely nice - bright and open.

Cons

Turnover is unbelievable. Lots of empty promises to new employees. Over the course of last few years, almost half of the employees have been fired, let go, or simply quit. Zero job security. Those who are left have to pick up the pieces while constantly living in fear that they will be in the next group of mass firings. The executive team will have you believe it is due to client cutbacks, unforeseen budget problems, etc. That everyone just has to pitch in and roll up their sleeves to get through the tough times. The truth is the executive team just plain sucks. They make one bad decision after another and then are left constantly trying to fix their mistakes...which they will never take accountability for. It's always someone else's fault - the client, the employee, each other. They make poor hiring decisions, poor spending decisions, and have poor overall judgment. Which hey, nobody's perfect, but when you have an agency full of people whose livelihood depends on your ability to run a company, it's kind of a big deal.

There are indeed some truly talented and passionate individuals here at Blue Flame Thinking, some of which have been with the company for decades. Even though this review was only left a year ago I think we're a substantially different organization today then we were then. Most recently we've implemented a Team Lead driven management structure with the goal of empowering our associates to both grow and implement real organizational change. We have a long list of things to change together but you are correct, ultimately leadership should take responsibility. Especially when the livelihood of so many families depends on their actions. Hopefully, employees feel comfortable addressing these types of concerns directly with their Team Lead or me today.

Pros

- Good benefits and pay - Healthy work and people management - Work life balance is great for a marketing agency - No interpersonal drama and toxic people--they stand up for their best workers.

Cons

- Marketing as an industry can be really fast paced and busy, there is no exception here. Active management is so important in this industry, and they do a great job!

Pros

As the title mentions, there's a lot of wonderfully talented people at BFT. Some of the best I've worked with in my career, who care immensely about doing great work that brings results to their clients. Total compensation is competitive, with a decent bonus structure and generous healthcare contributions from the company. Both locations have beautiful office space and offer a fair amount of flexibility and work from home perks.

Cons

Executive Leadership is out of touch with their employees and their clients, caring most about profit when they should be focused on bringing solutions that actually benefit their clients' businesses. Very important business decisions are made based on emotion and 'gut' feelings without anyone paying attention to long-term impacts or the core reasons behind the visible symptoms of failure. Employees are disrespected, lied to and lied about (to both other employees AND clients) as a matter of course in order to preserve a false sense that without the brilliance of the leadership team the place wouldn't survive. Meanwhile some of the best and brightest employees are mistreated, thrown under the bus and generally bullied until they either leave or stop caring. There's enough ego in the executive team to fuel 100 Madison Avenue shops. For an agency that was on an upward trajectory, it's sad to see. And clients are noticing, too.
