Pros

Some really smart people work at Blackpoint and the Blackpoint product and SOC were amazing (unfortunately dwindling as good talent are leaving and the product is losing its edge)

Cons

This was hands down the worst place I have ever worked at. Although there are some very smart and talented people that work at BP, there are some totally useless people that work there. Everyone is always afraid they are going to lose their job. If you have an opinion that differs from the CEO/Founder you’ll be fired or he will make your life miserable by having his minions gang up on you and you essentially end up leaving…effectively managing you out of the company. I’ve heard of a lot of shady stuff going on behind the scene, including some seriously inappropriate behavior happening at offsites. A lot of newer leadership was brought in and everyone was excited for some positive change, but it never really happened and it just caused more drama and chaos. CEO and other c-levels are constantly dictating what they think your job function or your team function should be, when clearly it is not what you would be doing at any other company. The CEO fired the entire RevOps team because the team was built and hired by the CRO he hired who then disagreed with him and was subsequently fired…and then the CEO decided to axe nearly every single person that the CRO hired….but then just a few months later a new CRO gets hired only to hire a new RevOps team. Less than a year ago BP had a score of 3.8 and not they have a score of 2.7 on Glassdoor….this should be a HUGE red flag for anyone considering a job at BP. Customer’s are constantly being billed incorrectly and finance is having to manually credit the customer. Customers are constantly complaining that their device commitments are increasing and having to maintain their devices so that they don’t get charged with an overage. If you are in sales, good luck! MSP customers are dropping like flies and if you don’t meet your quota you’ll be axed even though the reason why customers are leaving are completely out of your control. If you are a CSM, you will NOT be doing any true CS work…you are glorified administrative assistant to the account management team. If you are in technical support, your talent is wasted as your doing a lot of low level busy work. If you are in billing & finance you are constantly having to do manual work to ensure customers are credited and billed properly. If you are in Product Marketing, you definitely aren’t doing true product marketing work. A lot of people who don’t belong in their roles either because they are way to talented and their talent is wasted there because they aren’t doing what aligns with industry standards of what your job function should be or you are in a role where you are not qualified to do the work at all.

Really appreciate this review. Glad to hear the growth, benefits, and flexibility are working for you, and that you feel supported in learning and balance. The transparency and cross-team communication point is fair and it's something we're actively working on. Growth this fast tends to outpace communication if we're not deliberate about it, and we're putting more structure in place to close that gap. Andy Burner, Chief People Officer

Pros

Blackpoint Cyber employs a large group of passionate and talented people and the product and service are truly effective which makes this role a good one, for the most part. The PTO policy is pretty decent and I never feel as though I'm not able to take time away for important life events. The Blackpoint leadership is level-headed and will listen to feedback. The company is well-respected in the industry and has a good reputation. It seems as though the people at the organization always want to do the right thing and do right by our customers. Employees are typically encouraged to voice their goals and promotions/career changes occur from within often.

Cons

It sometimes feels as though we do not have enough personnel and that employees experience burnout. The support team and the product team seem especially stretched thin. A President's Club would be really nice to have. There are not a lot of opportunities to connect with the internal team in person. The quotas feel a bit high and the compensation feels a little low compared to other players in the cyber industry. The organization does not seem to focus much on giving back.

Thank you for the honest and detailed feedback. It means a lot that you still see a talented team, an effective product, and leadership that listens, even while raising concerns. I ver want to see our team members burn out, thanks for the flag on that, it hepls me and the team go dig into how we solve this. Andy Burner - CPO
