Pros

The benefits are OK, vaca policy is good, you can rack up a lot of time off if there long enough. The work environment in the current main building is poor, but good news is they have new buildings coming online soon.

Cons

I worked there as a software developer. I learned a lot there, but ultimately a frustrating place to work. Horse blinders on when it comes to any technology other than Microsoft's (really poor choice going with Azure). They keep engineers from using more cutting edge and non-Microsoft technology, which stifles job growth. Senior R&D management is cliquey, as long as you follow the narrow line of thinking and do what you're told - you're fine. Alternate or different lines of thinking not encouraged. Some of the engineering is really backward, but it's legacy design from people who have stayed in charge way too long. Implicit age discrimination, older engineers are typically scared off through various subtle and nefarious means. This is somewhat typical across the industry so not limited to Blackbaud. Lastly, mgmt there loves to tell you you are fairly compensated. Maybe 10 years ago. They have fallen behind market prices for engineers, and they seem to assume their pay has to be compatible with local companies - hey Blackbaud, its a global market out there now.
