Pros
- generous 40% employee discount on products - frequent access to free beauty samples - occasional remote work is allowed (snow days, sick days, etc.) - company has name recognition - occasional paid travel to trade shows
Cons
- pay employees under market value -company culture is currently non-existent -company is led by one family (nepotism is rampant) When I started at Beekman 1802, it was a smaller company, run completely by the owners. Over time, they hired C-suite execs. The brand was authentic - the owners talked the talk but they also walked the walk. They were interested in seeing ALL of their employees succeed. Because of that, employees gave them 110% in everything, often working long hours and 60+ work weeks because they genuinely enjoyed and cared about what they were doing. The culture was phenomenal - all of the co-workers got along fabulously. You were able to easily go to upper management with a problem, question, etc. In 2018, there was a merger with another company. That is when the brand's company culture quickly started deteriorating. The new company (family-owned), quickly began firing loyal employees (including the C-suite) in order to place their own family members in executive positions. The owners were nowhere to be found as nearly a dozen full-time employees - all of whom had been there at least 1 year - were let go for seemingly no reason, with no prior write-ups or offenses. They are the face of the company and that is it. Beekman is turning into any other corporate America office. Don't be fooled by the promises in interviews, unless you're ok with nepotism and nobody around to have your back.
