Pros

I spent 3 years rewriting Bear's software. Truly a thankless job

Cons

Confirming the same IT Dept leadership problems. Probably the most toxic, back-stabbing, manipulative, accusatory place I've ever worked. They love to blame. I've watched this company blame internal developers because another company's application went down. Your metal health will suffer. None of the promised industry training ever materialized. Every expense is spared for development. They actively sacrifice experience and knowledge in favor of AI, vibe-coding and buzzwords. They keep the IT dept locked out of the systems required to actually do the job. Devs don't even have access to install anything on your own VM. You have to go thru an IT ticketing system and have a network tech do a lot of the work for you. So IT owns it, but you're responsible for it. It really is as bad as it sounds. They really don't care if you go above and beyond, raises and bonuses are formulaic and targeted to management. They see people as easily replaceable or disposable.
