Pros
Company has been a leader in the retail battery, lighting, and device repair industry for years. Some category and product managers show great promise and understanding of day to day operations in stores. Store data is becoming more and more available and useful and leadership is comfortable using that data to drive business areas. So much potential in the business model.
Cons
The corporate office especially suffers from nepotism: the favorite people are favorites from the beginning and receive preferred treatment. Little to no advancement unless you are buddies with someone in a director position. Very little career planning or guidance. When something is wrong, no one takes ownership and fixes things, which makes the discussion an excuse fest. When you do try to take ownership for a problem, you are all alone. Very few category and product managers understand what it's like to be in a store. POS, product support, ARO, order management etc. are subject to a lot of turnover because of tough expectations. Everyone in the office has the luxury of being very far removed from customers and sometimes do not realize the severity of their decisions.
