Pros
Very interesting and engaging research topics. Intelligent and friendly co-workers. Lots of opportunity to learn new skills. Good 401k contribution.
Cons
Long hours - management expects you to always be available leading to many late nights and long weekends. Low pay for amount of work, level of responsibility and accountability. Expensive benefits. Limited opportunity for advancement; advancement does not seem to be determined by performance, as suggested. Changes in staffing have led to too many direct reports for managers. Managers are not very accessible to their direct reports. Too many silos and limited collaboration across groups limiting the company's ability to take advantage of their abundance of resources. High overhead costs have led to loss of contract work. Over-focus on growing profit as a non-profit organization. This has led to layoffs of talented staff. Lack of transparency from managers on decision making.
