Newspapers are declining industry, so tried and true ways must be replaced. Finding the right solution takes energy, trial and error, and sometimes people might be part of the problem Overall staffing needs are declining as automation and consolidation eliminate need for headcount.

It's air conditioned. Bathroom up front is very clean. Parking is free.

Knowing that some of the people that work the presses' in the back are literally high on the job. Management turns a blind eye. You can catch a contact buzz walking around the presses'. It's a very cliche' company. If you don't have friend or family member who is already in the company, you are treated like an outsider and do NOT get treated as as equal. I had over 15 years experience in the field over my co-worker who was hired the same time I was to do the same position. My co-worker had a connection. I don't. Well, later, I over heard my co-worker mention how much "we" make. (My co-worker did NOT know I was making a dollar LESS then my co-worker was.) During the hiring process, I asked for the same about of pay my co-worker ended up getting as starting pay. I was told what I asked for was the, "cap" pay for that position. LIE. My point is, if your manager has something against you, or if you DON'T have a connection somewhere in the company, You are going to get treated poorly. Whatever happened to departments working together as a team?
