Pros

They absolutely get it. We have an Unlimited PTO policy which allows you to take time off when you need to, rather than accruing or 'earning' PTO. We also have a really supportive work environment. You're going to get a lot of experience working in a company this size and having support from the very top makes a world of difference. Yes, it is a startup; it is gritty. And knowing this, Ryan and Laurence (founders) encourage all team members to take initiative, and they're both super supportive. I'm actually really excited about the growth we're experiencing. While at Avail, you're going to meet some truly interesting (and inspiring) people who also happen to be your colleagues, managers, and senior management. One thing I can really stand by is that the founders show full respect for your area of expertise when you show yourself to be a champion of Avail's core values (integrity, ownership, persistence, and customer-centricity). They also get that pro-diversity culture starts day-one, not sometime in the future when you "have time" or things "slow down"; I love that the founders of Avail are very mindful of this, and it has definitely been reflected in our most recent round of hires. I love it. Additionally, Avail has a fully stocked kitchen full of snacks, and a weekly '312' policy which encourages team members to continue to get to know each other (if 3 or more people from the office go out, Avail covers the 1st round of drinks, up to 2 times per week). They also offer dinner/transportation reimbursement for working late, and we do have the ability to work remotely (we can work from home on occasion as long as other team members who may rely on you can successfully complete their tasks).

Cons

For complete transparency, Avail does offer health insurance, but not full coverage; however, changes with this and some other benefits are coming in the months ahead (and the founders are very open about the fact that this is coming, which in my eyes is really a pro). Lastly, being surrounded by so many intellects definitely puts some pressure on you. I don't personally see it as a con, rather, an opportunity to learn and grow from some of the world's best.

Pros

Health insurance was alright, and Payments team did not have to work bank holidays.

Cons

Poor leadership and communication, direct management took credit for ideas and expected team to come up with revenue ideas although that was not required of the department, layoffs happened after leadership bragged how much money was being made and how successful the acquisition was.
