Pros

The people you work for and their families are incredible.

Cons

I went into this job thinking I had the chance to make a real difference to other people "like me". Told Autism together I am autistic myself during the interview process. Was told on my job offer they would provide extra accommodations, such as support in meetings. This support never arrived. I was also told I would not be allocated to places where noise levels were loud. Again, this did not happen. I witnessed coworkers laughing and making fun of people they care for, and when I reported this, nothing happened, and nobody was swapped. Sadly some clients did understand they were being made fun of and they would often become very depressed or distressed at staff behaviour. I was told by my boss to "curb" my autism, that it wasn't appropriate and that I should "feel embarrassed for acting like clients." I mentioned this to HR then a week later, I'm informed my contract is mysteriously ending. Got told it was a redundancy, but then found out it was a redundancy of one. If an autistic staff member gets treated like this, think about how people under their care get treated! Appalling organisation full of bullies, I am ashamed to say I worked with them.

Pros

Working with the service users

Cons

The head office /executive team have no thought for staff, they don't care about staff welfare, incidents are covered up and excused by senior managers who say "its part of the job" - the company will wriggle/lie /cheat /do anything to not get caught out , when a staff ,member raises a grievance the company will twist everything that is said to fit their own narrative , there is a culture of " that didn't happen" Mangers are encouraged to lie about events , and when staff members have raised issues they have been bullied, pressured and consistently harrassed until they believe it was their fault - I IMPLORE ANYONE WHO IS CONSIDERING JOINING TO THINK TWICE - a serious clearcut of managers is needed and replaced with new forward thinking team who will look after its staff.
