Pros

Checks are deposited on time.

Cons

This company misrepresents itself. Once you get through training, and are issued your truck, it is VITAL that you keep a notebook of every load order, including paid mileage (load and empty), times of arrival and departure, and details of issues not being addressed. This makes this job more stressful than it should be. I just started this job, and I'm over 1000 miles not paid what I was told I'd be paid. I have some trips that werent paid at all. You are delayed on a daily basis having to wait for information you need to deliver/ pick up your loads. This is constantly causing you money. When these issues are addressed, you get vague and sometimes sarcastic answers. The equipment is ok. But proper maintenance, even when listed on VIR is addressed vaguely, and sometimes ignored. This company is only concerned with safety scores, and "building a clearer vision".... but will take from you (the driver) to achieve this "clearer" vision, without any warning or notice. This company WILL screw you.

Pros

The benefits are excellent. Health insurance premiums are low for employees. Pay is on the high side. No micromanaging in the accounting department. Employees given lots of trust. Great manager in accounting allowing immense flexibility

Cons

Upper management too spread out across the country. Sometimes seems unorganized and unstructured

Pros

Ascend seems to be trying to fix issues with newly acquired company DTS.

Cons

-High turnover in the office as well as on the road (drivers) is indicative of poor interpersonal skills and lack of accountability for upper management -Lack of training (some drivers don't get trained before 1st load); also there is often no orientation -Management is eager to blame its employees rather than actively working to fix reoccurring issues that lead to poor service. -Drivers are often given inadequate route information and less than road ready equipment
