In immediate panic mode. Fired for "attendance" after THREE DAYS. I understand better than anybody that poor attendance cannot be tolerated. However extenuating circumstances should be taken into account. Not only did I make them aware of my ongoing car problems prior to starting (in fact, my request to start work a few days later was denied), but my cell phone broke, making my efforts to update them never got through. Now I understand how this looked, and would certainly have kept me on a short leash. HOWEVER, I would like to think that two otherwise brilliant small business owners possess enough critical thinking skills to evaluate each situation on a case by case basis. In my case, the fact that my shortest tenure in the last 20 years of my career speaks for itself.
