Pros

I have found while working for ADVO they have provided a supportive and transparent working environment. Their values are upheld and they constantly push to make positive change while ensuring the employees work life balance/ mental health and physical health are all taken into consideration and adapted too. I have worked in WCA for nearly 8 years and found in previous companies I was stuck, within 4 months of being with ADVO I was encouraged to apply for a lead role as they saw my potential and I was successful. The development opportunities are not promises but are upheld and I really respect that protected time to learn and develop is protected. It can be a difficult change from being in a clinical setting but I’ve found it really beneficial and I have seen a world of nursing I didn’t know existed.

Cons

The initial training can be heavy and quality assurance is of high priority. A few things to consider are: You need good typing skills and computer skills as it is computer based, you need to be able to type and talk at the same time. Be resilient especially in the beginning while you await approval from the DWP and are having assessments reviewed but this can be seen as a great development opportunity. Have great communication skills not only for the people we assess but within your team, as it is usually a hybrid contract working remotely means you need to ensure you are communicating effectively.

Pros

The work is the same as it was at my previous company where I was doing the same role with the aim of 5-6 cases a day, but management is so much more supportive and cares about your well being. You feel much more autonomous rather than micromanaged and that has been absolutely amazing for my work life balance and job satisfaction. I was with my previous company for two years and there was not even the hint of progression despite repeated requests and being told I was performing amazingly. I was only at Advohealth for two months before being encouraged to apply for the NET trainer role and succeeding in doing so! Advohealth is very much forward thinking rather than reactive and rewards people when they are doing the best they can rather than expecting more which prevents burnout. I would definitely recommend this company to work for. The work is intense and difficult at times as it is in all places but management seem to understand that and there is much more support in terms of regular training and check ins to see how you are doing.

Cons

The work can be difficult at times but that is solely as it is the role of a functional assessor and not a reflection of advohealth.

Pros

Working as a Paramedic Functional Assessor with Advo Health has been a positive and rewarding transition in my career. One of the standout benefits of the role is the excellent work-life balance it offers, which is a significant change from the demands of frontline paramedic work. The training has been quite intensive, and at times I have found it challenging to adjust to the volume and depth of new information. However, this has been balanced by the strong support provided throughout the stages and training process. The trainers and mentors have been approachable, patient, and genuinely invested in helping me succeed, which has made a noticeable difference in building my confidence in the role. I also had great support by my colleagues within my training cohort, which also helped me through the initial stages and training process. As I continue to develop, I am increasingly enjoying the position. It offers a new perspective on client care and allows me to apply my knowledge and experience as a frontline Paramedic in a different way as well as develop and further my assessment skills as a clinician. Overall, despite the initial challenges, this role has proven to be a worthwhile career move.
