STAY AWAY - The most toxic, fear-driven work environment I’ve ever experienced. - Recruiter Advantis Medical Employee Review

Pros

If you’re young, there’s a lot of new grads and people your age here. I made some of my now best friends while working here, which is the only real positive I took away from this company.

Cons

I never write reviews, but this was one of the worst working experience of my life. I was originally solicited on LinkedIn during my last semester of college to join the company as a recruiter. Everyone I interviewed with was warm and welcoming. It seemed like a young, fun environment. Or so I thought…I had no idea what I was walking into. As a recruiter, they start you off with what is basically a 3 month probation, or as they like to call it, “phase 1”. You get 2 weeks of classroom training, and then are let loose with very little to no mentorship after. I was one of 15+ new hires in my training class. By the time my phase 1 was over, barely 5 from my class remained - the rest quit or were fired for not meeting the metrics required. I was immediately put off by this. It very quickly became clear that you are viewed solely as a number to upper management, nothing else. Even while I was meeting metrics, I was in a constant state of anxiety - I felt no reward for succeeding and no job security in general. The amount of turnover I witnessed while at this company was unbelievable. Upper management resorted to fear tactics and public humiliation to motivate performance, and regularly displayed each individual’s billing, headcount, # of calls made, call duration, active track from your laptop, etc. for the entire company to see. There was absolutely no trust given to employees. Working from home was a huge no no and if you left at 5, you were reprimanded. There was no work life balance - if you weren’t working 8-6/7 plus weekends, you were looked down upon. Overworking was highly encouraged. Compensation does not make the work worth it, either. Starting salaries for recruiters are 45k (barely livable in Dallas, especially if living alone), and while I was there they completely changed the compensation and commission structure so it was not at all what was originally promised. Not to mention, the benefits suck. Not even a 401k match is provided. To put it lightly, this company is a mess. They hire mass amounts of new grads and young professionals who don’t know what they’re doing (serious lack of mentorship and experience here) only to weed out the majority of them instead of actually investing in them. So many things changed while I was there (I stayed for less than a year) - comp structure, teams resized and restructured multiple times because of the turnover, we moved offices, did an overhaul of all of our software, etc. Very few things went smoothly here. And since I’ve left, the company has gone from around 300 people to sub 100. Every time I open LinkedIn, I see posts of old coworkers who have been affected by layoffs - meanwhile, while upper management can’t pay to retain their people, they’re all taking a company trip to Cabo that they can’t afford. It’s laughable. I would be wary of good reviews. While there, they incentivized their employees to leave positive reviews by paying them with gift cards and other rewards. I really thought that this is how most other working environments (particularly other recruitment companies) would be. I was so wary while job searching, and felt/still feel overwhelming amounts of anxiety around work because of this experience. To current employees - if you are questioning if this is a normal/healthy culture, it’s NOT. There is so much better out there. I work for another recruiting company now, and the difference between the two is night and day. I’ve received so much individual mentorship and ongoing training in my new job, I’m given a lot of trust and autonomy, and the environment is far more secure and nurturing than my previous experience with Advantis. Not to mention, I receive much better pay and benefits now. If I can offer any advice, it would be to stay as far away from this company as you can. Save yourself the time, trouble, and mental toll. Do not work here.

Pros

There’s nothing good about this company

Cons

Please make sure to work else where. You will have no life, work weekends (almost all weekends), come in the office everyday, commission is a joke. Turn over is insane. Never seen anything like it. Please do yourself a favor and stay far far away.
