Pros
Talented teams who care deeply about the mission
Cons
Abcam showed real promise following the Danaher acquisition, but that potential is being steadily undone by a CEO whose leadership style is marked by intimidation, ego, and an uncompromising “my way or no way” approach. Collaboration has been stifled, dissent discouraged, and a steady stream of capable individuals are choosing to walk away. Now and then, one might witness small gestures from CEO intended to appear thoughtful or supportive, just enough to maintain a veneer of empathy, but they rarely go beyond surface level optics. Rather than addressing the root of the problem, the organisation appears more focused on removing those who were actually delivering results. Just today, yet another Director level leader handed in their notice, part of a growing exodus of respected individuals sacrificed to sustain a failing culture.
