Pros
Fair amount of control over your own schedule, decent mentoring support and some support with materials for tutoring sessions
Cons
gatekeeping benefits (really difficult to get benefits even when working full time during school year because company has policy of averaging tutoring hours over entire calendar year and summer hours are always lower), infrequent and small salary increases, value of what employer takes from income (73% of hourly pay) does not equal value contributed to your professional development, company does not support tutors who are poorly treated by intense/abusive/bizarre silicon valley parents (refuses to allow tutors to stop working with a client when they are treated poorly by parents or student), are more interested in requiring you to tutor test preparation because of higher revenue for company even if test preparation is not your interest
