Pilkington's business plan is fairly transparent. The company produces glass for the automotive and building products industries, and it is a major supplier of glass to replacement windshield shops in Europe, the Americas, and the Asia/Pacific region. Pilkington also manufactures building products, including glass designed to insulate buildings to control energy and noise. The company's automotive glass products include solar control glass, security glazing, and glass heating systems. Pilkington has operations in more than two dozen countries worldwide. In 2006 Pilkington was acquired by Nippon Sheet Glass Company, which previously owned about 20% of the company.
