No itsy-bitsy spider, Spyder Active Sports is a leading brand of high-end skiwear and outerwear for use in snowy environments. The company's products, which include jackets, pants, gloves, and ski suits, are sold by more than 550 retailers in the US and Canada, as well as online. Its apparel is also sold outside North America in some 50 countries through overseas distributors. Spyder Active Sports also sells casual "mountain-lifestyle" clothing, as well as footwear and luggage. The company sold off its Cloudveil Mountain Works brand in 2010. Investment firm Apax Partners owns the company. Chairman David Jacobs, a competitive skier, founded Spyder Active Sports in 1978. Apax has owned the company since 2004.
