GigOptix hopes its light shines bright in an optical universe. The company develops polymer materials and products for use in wireless and optical communications networks. Products include optical and radio-frequency (RF) amplifiers, compact panel wireless antennas, and electro-optic modulators and optical interconnects for use in telecommunications. Its products are used in fiber-optic communications networks and for connecting to other types of electronic equipment. GigOptix also develops custom electro-optic devices for the US government, particularly the Department of Defense, which accounts most of sales. Customers have included Multiplex, Inc. and ZTE Corporation.
