SABESP Snapshot
Companhia de Saneamento Básico do Estado de São Paulo is Brazil's largest water company, serving more than 26 million people. The state-controlled utility, known as SABESP, provides water services and waste water services to 60% of the population of the state of São Paulo. The company's service territory consists of more than 370 municipalities (out of the state's total of 645) including those in the São Paulo metropolitan region. SABESP also sells water wholesale to other municipalities in the state. The government of the state of São Paulo controls SABESP.
