Squeeze a handful of algae and you'll usually just get mush. However, Advanced BioNutrition (ABN) has figured out a way to wring docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), arachidonic acid (ARA), and other essential fatty acids from specific algae for use as nutritional ingredients in aquaculture (i.e., fish farming) and domestic farm animal feeds. The company markets these long-chain fatty acids under the AquaGrow brand. ABN also develops oral and injectable vaccines to treat various aquatic animal diseases, which adversely affect the aquaculture industry's profits. ABN offers vaccines for treating diseases in salmon and shrimp, two of the most commercially farmed seafoods.
