Application
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at nDreams (Farnborough, Hampshire, South East England, England) in Dec 2018
Interview
I found the job listing online in November 2018. I went to their website to fill in an application form & found that one didn't exist. Instead, I was required to email my resume and covering letter to the studio directly - a process that I thought worked really well and made it clear to me that my application wasn't being thrown out without being read by a real human.
Around 2 weeks after I'd sent the email, I got a request for a phone interview with two people in studio the following day.
Phone interview took around 40 minutes and was pretty straightforwards. No questions that came out of left field - a bunch of standard "interview questions" along with a few more to try to deep dive into my skills and experience a bit. 5 days following the call, I received an invite to interview at the studio about a month later.
Interview proper was on December 20th, I was given a brief to prepare a presentation to be made while at the studio.
I arrived at the studio that morning & was instantly made to feel welcome - HR staff offered me a drink on arrival, asked how my travel to the studio was (I was flying on the same day as a major airport closure nearby) and introduced me to the interview team.
Three people from the department spoke to me in the same session. Questions were pretty standard with a few more "what would you do in X situation" ones and more about me as a person than the skill-focused phone call. I was then asked to present, and was then invited to try a game that they had produced.
Just as I was heading out, I was made aware that they had intended to get back to me before Christmas but one of the other applicants had to cancel so they had no ETA on when they would get back - I really appreciated being informed of this, so I could temper my expectations over the Christmas period.
All in all, it took until January 7th 2019 before I heard back from nDreams with an offer of employment to start in early February.
Generally speaking, the application process was pretty flawless in my opinion. I was always able to get in contact with someone in the studio when needed, was given good estimates as to when everything would happen and the whole process felt like it wasn't dragging on longer than necessary.
