      CX Team Lead Interview

      7 Sept 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Whatnot in Aug 2025

      Interview

Rejection is just part of the game, and that's okay. However, my candidate experience was poorly handled by Whatnot and showed such disregard for my time, which is an ironic contrast to their company values of ‘Provide Extreme Transparency’ and ‘Move Uncomfortably Fast’. The time investment: 5 rounds of interviews including a case study/analysis requiring a 5-page output with a 48 hour time limit. Told me they were “committed to providing feedback within 72 hours”, but I didn’t receive an update for 8 days after my submission.
Two of my interviews were rescheduled (one the day prior, one two hours prior). My three references were contacted before the final interview even occurred. Two weeks after the final interview, the recruiter asked to schedule a call with me. I was excited and thought I was about to receive an offer! But, he joined 30 minutes late and then gave me a verbal rejection. Feedback for Whatnot: I poured a lot of heart, effort, and time into this interview process and wish the recruiter had been more forthright with me as to how my candidacy was evolving. I do feel I was somewhat led on to expect good news. And, while I do appreciate the rejection reasoning being shared with me... I would recommend that the recruiting team consider delivering rejections in writing rather than via phone call.
