I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Whatfix (Bengaluru) in Aug 2018
Interview
The HR got in touch via a hiring agency and asked me to do a design assignment on the LIVE product. I asked for a portfolio walkthrough or a skype call with the team before doing the task. But it was declined. The HR assured that he would get detailed feedback on the task even if I didn't qualify. After a day of submission, I got word from hiring agency that my application is rejected because my work was not 'in-depth'. I spent over 8 hours defining and documenting my process in-depth. The HR didn't respond to my emails or attend my calls. In the end, they got free work done.
My advice: Don't waste your time.

Question 1
Identify the usability issues in Whatfix Editor and come up with solutions
At Whatfix, We are committed to enhance and elevate the interview process and candidate experience. This feedback definitely helps in nudging us in the right direction. In general, we ensure that feedback is communicated transparently to all candidates. The whole idea of the interview process and assessments set never was and never will be to get free work done. We are sad to hear if you got that idea.
We will take necessary action to course correct our feedback communication process.
Thanks again for the feedback.
I applied through other source. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Whatfix (Bengaluru) in Apr 2017
Interview
Interview started with a pre screening call with the HR who contacted over LinkedIn. Post that a pre-screening assignment was given. Within an hour of submitting the assignment, an interview was scheduled with the manager. Manager interview was a little tough. The questions were very relevant to my skills and usage of them in my previous work. There was enough time during the interview to ask questions about the company and product. Manager was open to answering them. Was given another assignment to do. On completion on the second assignment, a call with HR manager and another one with the founders was set. Both of these rounds were tough.
Pros:
Response time is QUICK(O).
At all times, the HR is in contact with you asking about your experience.
Being in UX field, past experiences showed that most HR are not aware what a UX person does. But here the expectations were quite clear and even the HR questions on UX were thought provoking.
Manager and founders also realise the issues in the product and were open to feedback on them during the assignments.
All rounds happened on call as we were in different cities & they were very accommodating of the timings
Cons:
At the point of time the company/product wasn't so well known, so it created a feeling of doubt on the credibility.
It was a risk, but I'm so glad I took it.
