The interview was difficult and lasted for an hour. It was an hour of intense grilling. They did not bother explaining the position and started the interview immediately with questions. They asked a lot of situational questions that were hard to answer for someone that does not have union organizing experience. They are looking for people that can push members to participate in events and take on more responsibilities for the union. They want people that aren't going to take "no" for an answer. Ironically, someone with sales experience (that enjoyed it) would probably do well in this role. (Side note: most staff was dressed in business formal. Men were in suits and skinny ties.) I got the sense they are having a hard time filling this position and are wary of people that may join to receive the training and then leave. I don't recommend applying for a job with them unless you are 100% sure that you want to be a union organizer for the next 10+ years.
