I applied online and about 2 weeks later was asked to submit a typing speed test, Excel test, and several sample lesson plans before completing a 30 minute Zoom interview. Despite providing a variety of available times to interview during the usual Monday - Friday, 9-5 range, I was told the interview had to take place that Sunday afternoon. The interview was with the Founder/President, who was very rude and spoke over me several times. She asked me about my opinion of the organization’s website and how it could be improved for educators, then told me that my perspective was “wrong.” When I asked about how the company was supporting the social emotional needs of its employees, particularly in light of the pandemic, she replied that people with depression, anxiety, or other similar issues need not apply, as they would be unsuccessful in the fast-paced environment at The HistoryMakers. The interview ended abruptly shortly after this question was asked. I was told I would hear back either way about the interview/next steps by Wednesday, but I was never contacted.
