      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Teach First in Mar 2017

      Interview

Involved an interview with an ambassador, a group task, a role play and a quick role play evaluation. The interview consisted of around 4 or 5 questions so was quite short. The interviewer was very friendly. It is very important to show real enthusiasm for Teach First and the vision so try to show that in the interview. In the group task there were around 8 of us who were teachers trying to make a plan to improve careers prospects of the students which we then had to present. Again, think about the competencies, offer to keep track of time and try not to dominate the conversation. In the role play I was a teacher and the interviewer was a student. You are given a scenario on a piece of paper and are required to get to the bottom of the problem in the time limit - this was difficult! I think in this task they are looking that you can accurately evaluate yourself afterwards so don't worry if it goes badly, just reflect on what was good and what needed improving afterwards.

      Question 1

Interview questions were heavily centred around the competencies e.g. tell me a time you showed good leadership, tell me how you stay organised etc

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Teach First (London, England) in Feb 2016

      Interview

The assessment centre involved three parts: a 1:1 interview, a group task and a roleplay with you as a teacher and one of the interviewers as a student. The 1:1 interview focussed more on you background and why you want to be a teacher and what skills you think you can offer Teach First. The group task involved teaching a lesson with a group (or pitching a project/solution) and you have to be very aware of your time management skills. The roleplay depends on what type of student the interviewer wants to be. I got a distressed student, but others got ones that were very quiet or ones that would misbehave.
