I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at Tally Solutions (Bengaluru) in Jul 2024
Interview
Interview call was through external sourcing agency, afterwards contact point was internal HR executives.
Entire process was very slow, first round was conducted after 5 weeks of first call with the HR, that too was scheduled only after multiple follow-ups as I was going through a tough time and getting a job was very urgent for me.
First round was with a senior member of the engineering team and duration was more than an hour, The interviewer was very friendly and co-operative and discussed things in detail, gave options to explain things in alternate ways wherever possible.
After the interview, I asked for the feedback from the HR which was positive as stated by her and was told that i will be shortly updated about the next steps.
After multiple follow-ups and two weeks I was told that position is now on hold or probably withdrawn.
I spent close to two months in this process and result was void that is disappointing.
Interview questions [3]
Question 1
Introduction and discussion about the previous work and projects.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Tally Solutions (Bengaluru) in Feb 2018
Interview
1. Design / architecture round mostly on cloud solutions.
2. Online test - simple general intelligence test
3. Design / architecture round and some coding.
4. Director / managerial round.
5. Hr round.
It is a privately owned very bureaucratic organization. They will limit your visibility to your role only. Management looks very political. I am surprised to see so many positive reviews on glassdoor.
They pay average or above average to freshers / less experienced people. In senior roles, their offer is not at all good enough. They have only one product i.e. tally and they are selling it from last 30-35 years. They have customers who are accountant, ca. GST has earned them lot of money this time. However, it is a simple product with very simple (and old) tech stack.
They would like to impress you with big words e.g. TDL etc. They have built a cloud infrastructure which does license checks for 1 million customers and they advertise it as a very big problem that they have solved.
One thing worth to mention. After all those interview rounds, I got a call from HR. HR said the engineering head has unfinished interview and gives his mobile number and asked me to call him. When I called him, he asked me to write a program and send him. And this is an additional requests apart from an hour long F2F interview with the same person.
Anyway, bottom line is, they have good money in hand post GST. They want to spend those. The new generation Tally owners want to make Tally an Indian software giant. They just don't know how. They have lot of plans like (clustr.co.in) which all are premature, obscure. Think carefully before you join them.
