Tallahassee interview questions

I applied for the position through employee referral. The job application window kept getting extended but then finally it closed. A person who isn’t even on the communications team reached out to me about doing a quick phone interview. When he got on, he explained what the position entailed. Surprisingly, the position description he gave me did not really match up with what I applied for. So be it. I was still interested. The conversation was very brief and he spent most of the time talking. At the end he asked if I was still interest and I said yes. Later I heard from my friend who had referred me for the position that the interviewer lied and said I was no longer interested. That’s fine if you don’t want to hire me, but no need to lie. I never heard anything from them about the position again.
