      Quantitative Analyst Interview

      28 Mar 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Statkraft AS (London, England) in Nov 2016

      Interview

Quantitative Analyst Internship in the UK (London). The process lasted about 2 weeks (if we exempt the fact that I applied in November and they called in February due to workload as they said). I was contacted by a secretary from the London office in order to book an appointment for the first HR interview. I was interviewed by the Head of HR and the portfolio manager. They first introduced me the company and in which areas they want to expand. Then they ask me what I know about the company and classic HR questions. After I passed the first round, they sent me an email in order to complete some personality tests. In the second round (which lasted about 2 or a bit more hours), I was interviewed again by the head of HR and the portfolio manager for one hour about my test results and they asked how I would react in various situations. In the second hour, a trader and a programmer came in order to test my technical skills. Their test was fair but I was not prepared adequately and there were questions about Programming, Python and SQL. What stroke me a cord was that even when my answers were completely wrong, they were explaining the correct answer. In other words, in the way I understood this, they really wanted me to learn from this process. The next morning, the portfolio manager called me and he said that they can not offer me a position (the second interview was the final as they told me. The third would be a recap with the head of quants in London). He justified his decision by mentioning my mistakes in the exercises (not in much details due to luck of time) and he gave me some advices.
