I had 5 interviews in total. After a phone screening with the recruiter, I had my first interview with the manager, a member of her team, a nurse practitioner, and their general counsel. The recruiter followed up after each interview letting me know she received great feedback – I'm already familiar with their systems/tools, I have experience working with a vendor they're currently using, and I showed great interest in the company and mission. I was "exactly who they're looking for". So I got rejected. After I followed up and provided references is when I got the rejection email the next day. It was mentioned that the timing and needs for this role wasn't the right match, but the manager is who wanted me. It's absolutely crazy how unprofessional these companies are becoming. I don't usually write negative reviews, but this one finally broke me. I was very transparent with the General Counsel when he asked me why I was looking for a job, and with that in mind, I still was not considered for this job or referred to any other position within their company, even when it was mentioned that I'm an exceptional candidate who they wanted to stay in touch with for future opportunities. This behavior from companies is should not be normalized, and no words can express how frustrating, exhausting, and humiliating it is to deal with this. Please recognize that you are talking to actual human beings who have lives and family to support.
