The initial recruiter phone screen went well, but after that there were red flags everywhere. The next step was a call with the hiring manager, who was ten minutes late and ended the call after 13 min without asking if I had any questions. Within a few weeks I was scheduled for an in-person interview. The hiring manager was very personable and smart, but had nothing positive to say about the role. Lowlights included hostile coworkers, routine 60-hour work weeks, aggressive goals completely unrelated to the work being performed (so a setup for failure), chaotic organization with high turnover, and terrible tech support. I'm thankful for transparency, but no sane person would want the job they described. I suspect they wanted to hire a friend or internal candidate and were only interviewing me to fill a quota. I have never experienced anything so surreal in my 20+ year career, and it was a huge waste of time.
