      Finance Analyst Interview

      16 Aug 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at SLR Consulting (London, England) in May 2023

      Interview

Horrible interviewing process. First off, they used a sketchy recruiter, which already set off a red flag in my head. Nonetheless I went ahead, as I liked the sound of the role, and secured an interview as my CV was noted as impressive. I attended the (remote) interview and the interviewers were 5 minutes late. The first thing I noticed before we got into any questions was their body language - uninterested, bored, tired - and generally didn't seem interested in what I may have had to say. Generally a very intimidating vibe, as if they are "wasting their time" by interviewing you. I was very enthusiastic to find out more about the role than the bare-bones details given in the job description. However, despite trying to ask multiple times, very little details were given about responsibilities and tasks. Seems like there isn't much of a plan for the new hire when they join. All of the interview questions were generic competency questions, of which I gave good answers to. My follow-up questions involved asking about the company, the role, and the team - it seemed like they were almost offended by me asking these questions. Suffice to say, I didn't get sufficient answers. I left the interview feeling very confused and concerned. I was not selected for the next round, which is fine - I would not have proceeded anyway. Feedback for myself was that I was too enthusiastic in the interview and "too junior" for the position - note that this is an entry-level position and I have 4 YOE. To top this off, successful candidates have to do an excel test, and an in-person interview (for a remote position???). TL;DR - multiple red flags before interview stage I overlooked, completely uninterested and intimidating interviewers, no desire for passionate candidates or high achievers, and lack of direction for the role being interviewed. Do not recommend.
