I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Rightway (New York, NY)
Interview
Process is call with HR, hiring manager, other designers, head of product, and then portfolio review. Just as a precaution, I don’t think they know what they want out of this role. The title of the job description was recently changed to Senior UI/UX Designer with the same exact description and pay. My interview with hiring manager went really well. Interview with designers went well too but they ultimately said they went with someone with healthcare experience, even though I have healthcare experience too directly related to what they’re doing. After they said that, the role was reposted with a new title. I’m skeptical about companies that do this because they don’t know what they want or how to evaluate what they want, so they waste people’s time.
The interviewer seemed disinterested from the get go. It felt like he was being forced to do it (even though he was at the director level). The questions and the follow up questions that he asked were good. I think I was a little under prepared as it was my first interview in a while. Recruiter was very responsive and got a reject within the next week. The role did not align due to some specific requirement they had.

VP interview - video
CEO final signoff
There were no assessments or presentations. Largely behavioral and situational questioning.
I made it to the VP round, and then they ghosted. I felt the interviews I did were strong, and then communication stopped completely. When I reached out to the recruiter to get clarity after 2 weeks of silence if they were on a timeline for next steps, I was told the team was busy with a big project and interviews were on hold. They never communicated with me after that.
With that much time and energy invested on both sides, at the least there should be a generic email they're moving forward with another candidate, the search was on hold, etc.
