I interviewed at Reeder General Contractors (Fort Worth, TX)
Interview
I was initially contacted by a recruiter through LinkedIn. Following that, I had a phone interview and two in-person interviews. The first in-person interview was with two members of the project team. It was a great experience—the conversation flowed seamlessly, and they seemed genuinely impressed by my background and experience. I left with a strong feeling that I was a strong candidate for the role.
The second interview, however, was a stark contrast. It was scheduled to be with two senior team members who were above the individuals from my first interview. Unfortunately, only one showed up, and the experience was disappointing. The interviewer appeared distracted, frequently yawning and showing little interest.
A few days later, I received a call from HR informing me that I was not selected for the role because I was deemed "too green." This feedback was especially frustrating, as the position was entry-level, and I had experience with nearly all the required tasks, apart from two or three, which could easily be learned within a month.
The entire process took a significant amount of my personal time, and I was left feeling deeply disappointed. It seemed evident that HR, the project team, and upper management were not aligned throughout the hiring process.
