      Senior Software Developer Interview

      28 Nov 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Paddle (London, England) in Oct 2018

      Interview

I was very interested in the company but the recruitment process completely changed my mind. I first spoke to an internal recruiter: a useless call as all she did is read my CV back to me for 20 minutes. I moved to a technical interview which was well organised and the interviewer was very kind asking relevant technical questions. I asked for feedback to the recruiter and heard nothing for 2 weeks, then I received a generic email to say the role was closed. That's it? I replied asking for personal feedback at least from the technical interview. As expected I heard nothing back. I have no idea where it went wrong or what to work on to improve. Unimpressed.

Hi there, We are sorry to hear you had a negative experience, but we do appreciate your feedback as we are always happy to improve. As a rule in the first interview, we spend around 10 minutes sharing details about Paddle, our set of products, the technologies that we are using and the current roadmap. We also try to cover specific details about our Frontend Teams and how we are looking to bridge the gap between Engineering and Design. Then, we spend the next 15 to 20 minutes focusing on the candidate's experience where we try to understand whether or not they have deployed a commercial application with a JS framework, if they worked in a CI/CD environment, how they review pull requests and if they used the tools and technologies we are looking for. Again, we are sorry to hear that your experience didn't match the above and we are happy to provide a follow-up email with feedback. So please feel free to send an email to thomas@paddle.com and we will get back to you within a working day. Thank you again for your feedback! Cheers, The Talent team at Paddle

      Interview

The process has 5 stages. Recruiter, engineering manager, technical task, tech interview, behaviour interview. Lengthy process and chaotic interviews. They expect you to be an ideal candidate in the current market. So don't get discouraged if you don't get a job. It's probably not you, it's them.

      Interview

I applied online and they contacted me after a week. First an interview with HR, which was nice and friendly. Second, a technical interview with the engineering manager. After that a coding assignment through CodeSignal platform - I had a very bad experience using this platform.

      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      11 Feb 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Barcelona
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Paddle (Barcelona)

      Interview

The first interview was with HR, it was enjoyable since it seemed like just a conversation with a colleague. The second interview was with the Engineering Manager, asking questions about your background and some technical questions.  Then they send you a code assessment that you have to do at home, it's fast and enjoyable, but is through a browser IDE which makes it a bit uncomfortable. The fourth step was with two members of the team during 1.5h, it doesn't feel like a lot of time because you are changing from one exercise to another. It's basically a code review of a class, explaining your code assessment and implementing new other features, and finally a system design.  I would say this last interview is not complicated, but for people not used to being observed and evaluated while thinking or writing code, it greatly limits their cognitive abilities.
