The process took 1 day. I interviewed at New York Life (New York, NY) in Oct 2010
Interview
I had a phone interview with one of the junior actuaries at the firm. I got the interview by speaking to a New York Life representative at a career fair at my school. The questions were very typical behavior questions, and the interview lasted approximately 30 minutes. This was an initial screening, and therefore many people were invited.

Interview
The interview was via phone so I had presumed it was going to be more like a screening than an interview. I found it to be strange that they would conduct an interview this way. It was with an employee that has been working there for nearly 3 years but who entered this role straight from college. I had a hard time connecting with her and making it conversational as at times it felt like a quiz. I was also pretty much cutoff at the end and not able to ask additional questions after I had asked a couple and was not told I could email with additional questions.

Question 1
Can you tell me everything you know about life insurance products?
I recently experienced a confusing situation where I received two phone interview invitations simultaneously. I participated in both interviews, only to later be informed that it was a mistake. It's not so professional for such a big company.

Interview
The interview started off really friendly but the interviewer had cut me off at the 30-minute time mark when I still had questions for them. There was a lot of pauses on their end too but they were really supportive.
