I applied online. I interviewed at National Grid in Jan 2020

      Interview

Pretty intense interview process. First step after applying, if selected, you get a phone screen interview with the GDP coordinator. I was asked a lot of behavioral questions and it was quick (30 mins or so). After that, if you pass the screening, you go to the interview day. Interview day is about 3 hours and starts off with a group interview. Mine included 2 engineers and 1 hiring manager. Interview felt more of a conversation and wasn't terribly intimidating. Next, we did a case study. All of the other interviewees and myself went to one large conference room with other hiring managers and employees. The case study consisted of us given a problem and basically asking us how we would solve it. Doesn't matter whether your answers were wrong or not, they just wanted to see how you work in a group and what your thought process was. The hiring managers and employees were there just analyzing us and taking notes as we worked together. We then presented our ideas to the employers and they asked questions after. Finally, we had a fun group exercise where we had a scenario where we were in a plane crash and given the circumstance and items in the plane, we had to determine which items we would take and rank them in order of importance. It was pretty fun and again, it did not matter whether we had the right answer, it was just for the employers to see how we work and think together. It was pretty fun in comparison to the other activities of the day.

      Interview

AI interview for the first round that was behavioral but pretty specific and not a fun experience. Think we all prefer speaking to a real person. Decently hard to come up with examples in the moment as they were not prototypical behavioral questions.
