I applied through the NHS website and included a detailed cover letter of my experience and why I would be suitable for the role. I was then invited for a panel interview on-site

Still have not done it....very nervous, hope it goes well. I had to submit a cv and cover letter for the job specifications and why I was interested. Got the email of being short-listed after a couple of weeks.
