It was genuine interview with mix of questions related to my field and work efficiency. questions were not very difficult but i got a fair understanding of organizational work structure
I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Muslim Aid (London, England) in Mar 2023
Interview
I overall had a positive experience applying and interviewing for this role, the team were very accommodating to interview me as I had some commitments that prevented me from attending the preferred date suggested by them. However, they left me waiting longer than they said to tell me I was unsuccessful for the role, which was stressful given the amount of effort that was put into applying. I can only imagine they were waiting to hear back from someone they first offered the position to, which if I was offered after the agreed response date would have only made me feel second best. I know I was the last person to be interviewed because of how they accommodated me, so I was not happy with the prolonged rejection email. An initial 1 hour exercise before the interview was required. The exercise was 2 parts, the first focused on a humanitarian response exercise using a logical framework, the 2nd focused on financial analysis of documents and flagging any concerns. The interview was a panel interview, some questions captured below. I left the interview quite surprised about their depth of questioning, considering the pay scale was between £25-29k and so a relatively entry role. The panel kept things quite formal and we went straight into the questions. I was caught of guard when I discussed an answer to a question which I thought was relevant and was responded with "that's a nice story, but we're looking for something more like...". I thought this was quite a rude response and threw me off with how I was thinking about my answers. But, overall they were accommodating and approachable people. I asked questions about my concerns from comments by their Trustees in their latest annual report regarding MA's financial situation. The panel addressed this question well, I felt reassured about my concerns after their response.
